Review of the Excell Pressure Washer
Introduction
Pressure washers are a significant part of the toolkit that many people like to use to keep their home and garden in excellent condition. Particularly during the summer months, many users get their decks and patios looking clean and fresh, and a pressure washer is a great way to manage this with ease.
There are many different models and styles of pressure washer available, though, so it can be challenging to choose the right one for your needs and preferences. At Best of Tools, we have tested out many different pressure washers, and one of our favorite brands is Excell Pressure Washers. Below, you will find our reviews of one of the best pressure washers on the market in 2020.
What are Excell Pressure Washers like?
Excell Pressure washers are compact and versatile gas-powered pressure washers, offering high power and excellent performance for a wide range of different situations. They are ideal for domestic cleaning projects such as cars, fences, patios or decking, and are even ideal for smaller commercial or industrial cleaning tasks. In general, Excell pressure washers are versatile and impressively powerful for their small size and offer a number of great extra features that are worth considering.
Main engine and power
The Excell Pressure Washer is driven by a 212 cc OHV gas engine. That means that it needs to be loaded up with gas, but does not require connecting to an electrical outlet. It is a powerful little engine, offering impressive performance for such a small tool – it is powerful enough to reach 3,100 PSI or 2.8 GPM of pressure, which is more than many domestic pressure washers can hit and should be more than enough for minor commercial projects.
Recent models of Excell pressure washers are designed with all of their valves on top of the engine, making for easier maintenance and a higher level of reliability. Even the older models, though, are easy to start with a manual pull cord and a manual choke system.
Pressurizer pump
The pump is one of the most important parts of any pressure washer, as it drives all of the water through the tool and pressurizes it for high powered cleaning. Fortunately, Excell pressure washers generally feature high-quality pressurizer pumps, many of which are made from some of the best and most durable materials available. Excell pressure washer pumps are designed to be maintenance-free, making it easy to keep your Excell pressure washer in perfect working order throughout its long lifespan.
They also tend to have brass heads, which are resistant to the corrosion that can wear out cheaper pumps, and ceramic pistons, which are tough and resistant to cracking and abrasion during regular use. These are premium materials used in the best pumps, and are relatively standard components of most Excell pumps!
Excell pressure washer nozzles
The nozzles that can be attached to the end of the hose of any pressure washer give control over how powerful and directed the water blast provided by the pressurizer is. All Excell pressure washer models come with 5 different quick-change nozzle tips. These are easy to switch between for different situations, and cover a wide enough range of different styles to fit almost every situation you may encounter.
That covers a 40-degree nozzle, a 25-degree nozzle, a 15-degree nozzle, a 0-degree nozzle, and a soap nozzle for initial detergent application. Lower degree numbers give a narrower, more powerful jet of water, while higher degree numbers give wider jets that are less powerful. The 0-degree nozzle on the Excell pressure washer is so powerful that the jet of water from this nozzle can even be used to etch wood!
Outer cage
Excell pressure washers are built with heavy-duty roll cage frames. That means that they are easy to transport, and the mechanical components are exceptionally well protected from wear and tear as well as from accidents. It is made from tough metal tubing that resists all sorts of damage and is painted with a rust-resistant treatment to protect the metal from corrosion and damp.
The handle is also collapsible, making it easy to push the collapsed pressure washer into a small space or extended to steer it easily around. As an added bonus, the frame is designed with space to store all of the accessories and hose elements required on the top of the pump, keeping everything you need in one place. It is a tough, durable, and convenient design that puts a lot of thought into the user experience as well as to protect your pump’s mechanical elements.
How to assemble an Excell pressure washer
The Excell pressure washer is designed to be user-friendly and easy to assemble, taking almost no effort to get up and running. While you can’t quite use it right out of the box, the assembly process for Excell pressure washers is simple and easy.
Once you get everything out of the box, you will need to bolt the main cage frame to the body of the pressure washer, using the included bolts and wrench. After that, simply plug the pressure hose to the pump inlet, assemble the spray gun, and plug it into the other end of the hose. Once you have done that, then you are all ready to fill up the gas tank and start using your Excell pressure washer!
Weight
The biggest issue with the Excell pressure washer is its weight. This might be a relatively small model of a pressure washer, but it still weighs in at a little over 100 lbs. That is not bad for a high powered gas-powered pressure washer, but it is a lot heavier than the average electric pressure washer!
Fortunately, the frame of the Excell pressure washer comes with sturdy 10-inch wheels to make it as easy to move as possible, but it is still a reasonably heavy choice. If your upper body strength is limited, then you might want to consider avoiding the Excell pressure washer in favor of something a bit lighter.
Conclusion
The Excell pressure washer is a sturdy and remarkably powerful compact gas pressure washer. It might not be the lightest pressure washer for home use available, but if you want something a bit more powerful than its size suggests, then this is a power washer that really punches above its weight at all times.
If you are not sure you can comfortably push a wheeled cart unit weighing a little over 100 lbs, then it might not be the best power washer for you, but that is the only major issue with the Excell pressure washer. All of the components are of the highest quality and promise high performance throughout an exceptionally long lifespan.
